Students Comments

I have been attending Dannevirke High School for one term.

I had a nice welcome on my first day in school and one student showed me the school and my classes and so I got quickly used to the procedure in New Zealand school and became part of the school community.  The teachers were quite nice and I always got help when I needed it. In Week Seven I went toghether with 19 other students to OPC in Tongariro to do outdoor activities.  That was a real highlight.  We did activities like caving, high ropes, tramping and skiing.

What I also enjoyed were Interhouse events like, for example, Volleyball.

Altogether it was a really good experience and a good choice to come to Dannevirke.

I have been attending Dannevirke High School for one school year.

At first when I came to school I was really nervous.  However, it did not take long because everyone was so friendly to me.  The girls showed me how everything works and soon I was a part of school community. There was always someone helping me out if I had a problem.  All the students and teachers were really nice to me!

I attended Year 13 camp, and two Geography trips to Taupo and Rotorua. Highlight for me would be the tourist adventure activities.  Both trips were really interesting and I got a chance to see New Zealand!

I will also always remember all the Inter-house events, especially the time when we dressed up to be cards.  I really enjoyed being a part of Paulsen and wearing rDSCF1756__2_ed clothes!  We don’t have anything like this in Finland.

In week seven on term three I got an opportunity to go to the OPC with 19 other students.  We traveled to Tongariro National park and we did a lot of different activities that I haven’t tried before like caving, high ropes, flying fox, tramping (in a rain) and abseiling.  We also went skiing for one day and that was so much fun. This week was one of my highlights in DHS.

When I started the year I was shy and had very little English.  I end my time at Dannevirke High School with more confidence and much better English (I hope!). I got really good friends who I won’t forget.

Thank you for Dannevirke High School for making my year so special and I won’t ever forget this year!
