AG ACADEMY

Primary ITO Agriculture Academy

Dannevirke High School partners with Primary ITO to deliver on-farm training to senior students. Primary ITO allocate spaces each year for this programme, and we are very fortunate at this school to have up to 20 students involved in the programme. 

Becoming part of the Ag Academy involves an interview with Primary ITO staff as well as a recommendation from school staff. 

For those lucky enough to be chosen, the programme involves visiting local farms a day a week (or two days at Level 2), working with Primary ITO tutors to gain practical agricultural skills. At the end of two years, students gain the Level 2 Certificate in Primary Industry Skills qualification.

While out on farm, students gain experience working with livestock and develop a wide range of maintenance skills.
